Abstract

SILVA, Cristiane Moreira  and  RODRIGUES, Rafael Coelho. Covid-19 pandemic and psychic suffering: some elements for a problematization of contemporary Brazil. Rev. psicol. polít. [online]. 2021, vol.21, n.51, pp. 322-339. ISSN 2175-1390.

This article analyses the biopolitical management of the Covid-19 pandemic in Brazil, placing it within the neoliberal rationality, the post-democratic State and the security democracy that cross us. A kind of government possible only through war against its own population. In this sense, it is argued that the June 2013 event and the following conservative movement were crucial for the way of governmentality in our contemporaneity. Written at an acute moment of the effects of the pandemic in Brazil, the text relates the factors that make up the biopolitical management of the pandemic in the country to the psychological suffering of the population, and how this process takes place in order to exasperate the social, racial and gender conditions in society. We problematize the modes of action of Psychology in this scenario and call its political and social dimension inseparable from mental health care.
