Abstract

CHEROBINI, Luciane; MARQUES, Francisco Luiz; HERNANDEZ, Aline Reis Calvo  and  BINKOWSKI, Patrícia. Media, fake news and neoliberalism: the use of domination tools in the post-truth. Rev. psicol. polít. [online]. 2021, vol.21, n.52, pp. 646-658. ISSN 2175-1390.

The neoliberal expectation at the beginning of the 21st century, contrary to predictions, proved to be, in little more than a decade, fertile ground for the germ of corruption that provided the ethical crisis stamped in Brazilian politics until the present day. Faced with a media structure that endorses the ineptitude of rulers, data manipulation only gives visibility to what is convenient for the ruling elite, authenticating partial and imposing decisions. In this study, we seeks to show, through a literature review, the priority that has be given to the belief in what matters to believe, to the detriment of the facts that really occurred. To this end, a look at the Brazilian neoliberal society, the services provided by the media, as well as the fake news, tools that multiply in the post-truth, is provided.

Keywords : Post-truth; Neoliberalism; Fake News; Media; Manipulation.
