Abstract

MARTINS, José Francisco Greco. The search for a place in the world, in a world without place for the poor. Rev. psicol. polít. [online]. 2021, vol.21, n.52, pp. 743-760. ISSN 2175-1390.

The ways of understanding science in contemporary times collide with forms of social engagement. Scientific classicism refrains from carrying out the historical interpretation of reality, reducing reflection and trivializing the fundamental. At the same time, blacks and indigenous peoples, historically despised groups, assume important roles and raise their voices not only in society in general, but also in academic environments. However, these strongholds are conniving with the exclusion and invisibility of black and indigenous scientific bodies. In the pandemic, a lethal circumstance for humanity, observations of psychology as an interdisciplinary scientific discipline in the field of health are important to reassess the model of political engagement that we want in situations of tragedies and genocides of certain human groups that make up Brazilian society.
