This narrative review aimed to describe and integrate the Brazilian scientific production on socio-educational measures in an open environment. We support the importance of this type of measure as a tool to hold adolescents accountable for the crime by allowing the preservation of family and community ties, without institutionalizing and isolating the young person from their context. The search in the Scielo database resulted in the selection of 19 papers, which generated four analytic axes: legislation, the execution of socio-educational measures, the perspective of adolescents regarding the measure, and educational scope. We highlight the complexity of the phenomenon of infraction, which involves political and psychological dimensions, both individual and collective, demanding studies on the subject in political psychology.
