Abstract

The main objective of this work is to promote a few comments on two specific movements, one scientific (Psychoanalysis) and other artistic (the Secession) that were set in the passage from nineteenth to twentieth centuries at Austria. Thus, it initiates by a brief analysis of the historical context in which both movements could emerge: the Viennese Modernity. Then, it is presented the conditions of possibilities for understanding Psychoanalysis and Secession as two among many cultural movements that shows the existential, political and social crises which emerged in Vienna fin-de-siècle. As an illustration, three of Klimt's paintings are shown, highlighting some issues that are related to psychoanalysis.
