SOUZA, Aurélio. Laughter is not always good. Cogito [online]. 2009, vol.10, pp. 8-14. ISSN 1519-9479.

To talk about humor, in psychoanalysis, one must consider it from a psychoanalytical intention stand point, that is, something that affects the unconscious subject and should be evaluated. Although one may have the illusion that being humorous is related to the pleasure principle, psychoanalysis reveals that through their statements, the subject is in fact making a request, to another one, as to protect himself from the condition of enjoyment (jouissance), that is, from a suffering that affects him. Far different from what one might imagine, humor does not provide a "flower of pleasure", it is not altruism, but an artifice.

Palavras-chave : Real; Jouissance; humor; subject.
