Abstract

CAMARA, Gabriel Ferreira. The comic of delusion. Cogito [online]. 2009, vol.10, pp. 34-39. ISSN 1519-9479.

Which aspect of a patient’s delusion could evoke the comic? In this article the author will try to answer this question. Studying Schreber’s case, Freud affirms that, in the paranoiac patient, the libido regresses to it’s narcissistic phase of development, and as a consequence, grandiose symptoms emerge in his pathological history. The author will associate the comic that can be evoked in a delusion with the ingenuous - a type of comic. Another characteristic of delusions that can be explored by a comic point of view is it’s exaggeration. Finally, the author raises questions about the humour of the physician and possible benefits for the patient.

Keywords : Comic; humour; delusion; paranoia; ingenuous; exaggeration.
