Abstract

COELHO, Maria Thereza Ávila Dantas  and  RAPHAEL, Jackeline Kruschewsky Duarte. Psychoanalysis and education: considerations about the master and mastery. Cogito [online]. 2013, vol.14, pp. 20-23. ISSN 1519-9479.

The dialogue between psychoanalysis and education helps the enrichment of the following question: how a teacher becomes a master? The classic film To Sir, With Love addresses the relationship between teacher and student as a main factor of the education. In the film, the initial refusal to learn was gradually replaced by the desire to know. In this work, we take this displacement as a motor of reflection on the transfer in the context of education, concluding the importance of taking the master in its significant dimension, considering mastery as a function that is not reducible to master’s discourse.

Keywords : psychoanalysis; cinema; education; transference; master.
