Abstract

SACIPA RODRIGUEZ, Stella. The meaning of peace in the citicenz of Bogotá. Univ. Psychol. [online]. 2005, vol.4, n.1, pp. 97-106. ISSN 1657-9267.

The purpose of the research was to understand the meanings of peace in 120 adults and young men and women distributed in 13 groups by socioeconomic status, occupation and diverse cultural characteristics in the city of Bogotá. Methodology consisted of narrative analysis with focus group as the instrument. This article presents those meanings related to reconciliation, leadership and structural peace. Most relevant results were: the absence of national political leaders able to guide toward peace, and the absence of expressions about the construction of reconciliation. Important group differences were also found in the way of conceiving grassroots leadership, and in dispositions towards daily contributions to peace. The way to signify political peace varied and was constructed through the debate in the focus groups, allowing to observe displacements in their understandings.
