BALLESTEROS, Blanca Patricia; MEDINA, Argelia  and  CAYCEDO, Claudia. The "Psychological Wellbeing" definition by users of Psychological Services in Bogotá, Colombia. Univ. Psychol. [online]. 2006, vol.5, n.2, pp. 239-258. ISSN 1657-9267.

Some results from a larger research about conceptualizing psychological well-being, as one of the project´s specific objectives are presented. After the abstract of the concept´s theoretical review, the methodology of the descriptive study is described. An eleven open-question instrument was applied to 138 persons between 8 and 56 years-old, usual consultants of the psychological attention center of the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana de Bogotá. Participants answered the questions voluntarily, and the questions were asked by last-year Psychology students. Results are presented in quantitative and qualitative terms, and are analyzed and discussed in the light of the research interests and the specialized literature. Main conclusions refer to the relation between psychological well-being, defined in terms of emotional states and psychological competencies, and the people´s life conditions.

Keywords : Psychological well-being; Quality of life; Subjective well-being; Psychological competence; Social context.
