Abstract

BAUTISTA, Víctor Jorge Espinoza. Una reflexión en torno a la Alianza por la Calidad de la Educación. Rev. Mex. Orient. Educ. [online]. 2012, vol.9, n.22, pp. 19-31. ISSN 1665-7527.

The Alliance for Quality Education (ACE) is an agreement signed between President Calderon and Elba Esther Gordillo, leader of the SNTE. This alliance and the strategies attached to it have been sharply criticized by broad sectors of society, including renowned educational researchers and labor groups as the CNTE. Among the main criticisms are the skepticism regarding transparency and potentiality for success and, secondly, the idea that the agreement is based on a particular group political interests rather than on academic grounds. The article analyzes the five strategic areas that support the ACE, indicating their potential strengths and key weaknesses. Concludes that, as long as in the design and implementation of the agreement is absent the participation of the vast majority of social stakeholders, its strategies, as so many of a similar nature, are doomed to national academic failure.
