Abstract

ROSADO C., Ana María. Género, orientación educativa y profesional. Rev. Mex. Orient. Educ. [online]. 2012, vol.9, n.22, pp. 36-41. ISSN 1665-7527.

Much of the educational guidance that mexican students receives today is still permeated by social stereotypes, especially gender, which crosses education and society in general. As education at all levels is an opportunity to question all kind of discrimination, we should be concerned that the concept of equality is not incorporated in vocational guidance both in theory and in practice. An extra effort for the incorporation of the theoretical and practical tools that help raise awareness with professionals and students, to construct the conviction that choosing profession must be based on tastes, attitudes and skills, not from gender stereotypes.

Keywords : professional guidance; gender stereotypes; occupational segregation.
