The small number of women engaged in research in various disciplines has generated concern among the scientific community and international agencies such as UNESCO by the waste of human capital that it represents for science. Psychology, despite being considered a "feminized" discipline maintains the same trend. Under that one of the factors mentioned in the literature to explain this situation is the lack of role models to follow, this project was proposed to identify the role that have the researchers in psychology, both the pioneers and current, such as models, guide and stimulus for youth students consider the scientific career as his future project. This was applied a questionnaire of questions open to 60 students the career of Psychology UNAM, 30 women and 30 men, who were asked to people to mention pioneers of this discipline, the or the researchers who know, its intention to follow his steps and if you wanted to devote to research. The results showed that no student could mention any woman pioneer in psychology, both students and co-workers to know more male researchers, but two-thirds of those who know a woman researcher proposed follow in their footsteps; In addition, they emphasized the role of the teachers as major drivers of the scientific career between his students. These results are discussed according to the gender perspective and the important role that psychology gives to role models in educational programs.
