This essay aimed to present and analyze the main ontological, epistemological and methodological bases of the Career Counseling field, and if they are responding to the needs imposed by a contemporary Latin American context marked by social inequalities and instabilities. And it also proposed some theoretical and technical principles that can meet the specific demands of that context based on the social constructionist approach.
