RASCOVAN, Sergio. Orientación vocacional, las tensiones vigentes. Rev. Mex. Orient. Educ. [online]. 2013, vol.10, n.25, pp. 47-54. ISSN 1665-7527.

The vocational guidance practices were born with the industrial capitalist societies of earlier twentieth century, responding to their demands in an adaptive manner. In the same way as it has occurred in other areas of the social field, along its path, critical speeches as well as counter-hegemonic procedures have been generated. On this still-persisting ideological tension, it has turned necessary to visualize the relationship of vocational guidance, as a professional practice, with the profound current social inequalities that are certainly present during in the process of taking a decision. Any historization or genealogy of the speeches and practices in vocational guidance should place the social aspects at the center of debate. In this way, it would be avoided the ideological covering up through elegant and subtle means, supported by a theoretical-technical knowledge. Undoubtedly, to back the long-time transited path would be difficult due to the multiplicity of experiences and bibliography that has been produced all these years. In this work, we tried to point some key events that, in our opinion, have determined the thinking and doing in the field of vocational guidance. It is worth noting that this is not just a summary task but an illustration of the working methods associated to some specific emblematic authors.

Keywords : Genealogy in vocational guidance - Critical; complex and transdisciplinary paradigms - The vocation; subjective and social dimension - Vocational choices; vocational guidance and communitary mental health.
