Out of the multiple definitions Lacan is able to provide, "Analysis is what is expected from a psychoanalyst" is perhaps the most accurate. With humor and rigor, it needs the specificity of psychoanalysis, making it depend on what a psychoanalyst is, that is, on his/her qualification which is nothing but the result of an analysis.
