The article comments on Jacques Lacan's use of the term "advent of the real" in his text entitled "Television". It demonstrates its relation with the discourse of science, with the gadget and with what Lacan called as a knowledge in the real. And lastly, it specifies how psychoanalysis distinguishes itself from this discourse, proposing another relation to knowledge.
