Abstract

FARIA, Erika Vidal de  and  STARLING, Dannielle Rezende. Female devastation: what can an analysis do?. Stylus (Rio J.) [online]. 2019, n.38, pp. 155-164. ISSN 1676-157X.

The present text intends to articulate Freudian and Lacanian concepts about female devastation in psychoanalysis. Freud names the problematic relationship between a mother and daughter as catastrophic, and Lacan, in retaking the Freudian postulates, says that it is indeed a devastation that, in addition to the relationship between mother and daughter, can be reanalyzed in the field of love. In view of this, this research outlines the question "what can an analysis do?", with an indication that the device of analysis can provide a privileged place in which devastation, this other name for female enjoyment, can, somehow, circumscribe. Based on some authors who have focused on this specificity of the female clinic, we also use a clinical vignette to corroborate the aforementioned hypothesis.

Keywords : Psychoanalysis; Feminine; Devastation; Woman; Mother; Love; Analysis.
