Abstract

This text is an invitation for the reader to, alongside with the author, stay in Macondo, the fictional town created by the Nobel Literature winner Gabriel García Márquez in his work One hundred years of solitude. It proposes a psychoanalytic incursion guided by this masterpiece in which the saga of a family, the Buendías, is mixed with the foundation and the occasion of a city. Word without meaning, Macondo comes from the lalangue of its founder, the patriarch Jose Arcadio Buendía; it is a word without meaning that occurs to him in dream, it determines and founds a place. It is a stage, a scenario, a psychic space in which seven generations experience solitude, signifier to which the family is condemned, in the insistence of making sexual intercourse exist through incest, a crime whose punishment is the birth of a baby with a pig's tail.
