Abstract

The objective of this study was to investigate the possibility of assessment of deaf people with a verbal test of personality. It was evaluated if there is the need of adaptation of the rules and norms of application as well as the data collected in the test and we also investigated the existence of common traits of personality. Participated of this study ten (10) deaf people, with ages from twenty one (21) to thirty three (33) years old, with severe losses of the hearing capacity, sons of hearing parents, who have coursed or is coursing high school in a special high school or a regular one, with professional occupation, frequenting the Society of Deaf People of Rio Grande do Sul (SSRS). It was used the Zulliger test applied individually on each subject. The data collected indicated the viability of the application of the Zulliger technique on deaf people by a specialist in the language of signs. In the studied group some characteristics of personality were found, such as: good capacity of production, necessity of affection, kindness and support, low control over their psychic dynamism and affective-emotional reactions, situational anxiety and depression.
