DA SILVA, Jussara Van De Velde et al. Contribution of the Phillipson's Object Relations to the mental functioning of patients with panic disorder. Psic [online]. 2004, vol.5, n.1, pp. 48-65. ISSN 1676-7314.

The paper reports an investigation of psychoanalytic aspects of panic disorder patients to whom was prescribed psychoanalytic psychotherapy. The aim was related to resource analysis of the ego, facing: beloved object, and dependence, separation anxiety; indifference situation and threat towards reality; emotional attachment degree with early objects, and its difficulties. It´s a case study of five patients, all subjects were ranked as middle class, living in metropolitan area of São Paulo. They were evaluated with clinical interview and Phillipson's Object Relations Test (ORT) application. The ORT interpretation followed the author's orientation, and with Rosa's modifications. In the stories related to the A Series plates, patients have not been able to keep the ego adaptive balance facing the separation anxiety of beloved object, showing typical schizoparanoid phantasy; and also presenting viscumcarica position. The more mature ego controls, demanded by the B series plate's stimuli, have stepped back, with more anxiety in dealing with external reality. The C series plates indicating distortion in reality apprehension evoked attachment, hostility and human intimacy. Psychoanalytic psychotherapy prescription must be considered during the diagnosis interview.
