Abstract

The present study researched if differences in terms of social adjustment are related with difficulty of learning in the writing down. Using the ADAPE, 62 children without and 61 with strong learning disabilities were selected, aged from 8 to 14 years, attending at the third grade of the public Elementary School. The Escala de Ajustamento Social supplied information in three different social environments, which is, familiar, scholar and personal. The students, in its own classrooms, answered to the instrument in collectively. On the basis of the found results only the measure about school adjustment differentiated the groups. The analysis indicated that the students with learning disabilities had also perceived themselves as less suitable to the school, confirming the hypothesis of the study. In other words, in the environment where the learning disabilities manifest, the level of social adjustment is affected.
