Abstract

KRAENKER, Sabine. When similarity is no mere coincidence: the place of the construction of a case in psychoanalytic research. Lat. Am. j. fundam. psychopathol. on line [online]. 2007, vol.4, n.2, pp. 253-259. ISSN 1677-0358.

This article discusses specific aspects of the construction of clinical cases in psychoanalytic research, a path that begins with an enigma and can be concluded as a metapsychological construction. The enigma is stirred up in a psychoanalyst by what affects her in her clinical work, and leads her, a posteriori, to work through this experience, to wit, to develop a metapsychological construction. A clinical case is a necessary fictional construction that has both a singularity and a metapsychology. It is a reference to generalization. For a clinical case to become metapsychology it must be endorsed by anOther - a reference to alterity - represented by the community of university researchers.

Keywords : Clinical case; Metapsychology; Another.
