Psychological Assessment of Children and Adolescents at Risk. The present paper discusses several of the challenges and difficulties that are faced by psychologists who must do psychological assessment of children and adolescents at risk. The concept of risk and the identification of children and adolescents who are at risk is often a source of confusion. Some guidelines for its identification are provided here. The need to use appropriate tests and other psychological assessment techniques is discussed. Recent research is described to illustrate the possibilities that are available to psychologists in Brazil. Also, several methodological and ethical questions are discussed and some solutions for dilemmas faced by psychologists in this field are presented.
