Abstract

MENDONCA, Helenides  and  TAMAYO, Álvaro. Development and validation of an instrument to Measure the Attitude in Relation to the Organizational Retaliation (MARO). Aval. psicol. [online]. 2003, vol.2, n.2, pp. 147-153. ISSN 1677-0471.

The goal of this study was to develop and validate a measure to assess the attitude of workers in relation to organizational retaliation. The scale, composed by 12 items, encompasses an affective and a conative component was answered by 313 subjects. Data were submitted to Principal Axis Factoring (PAF) analysis. The rotation through the orthogonal method (varimax) revealed two factors responsible for the organization of the attitudes. The first factor refers to the affective component (7 items, a = .84), and accounts for 40,6% of variability; the second one refers to the conative component (5 items, á = .87) and accounts for 18,2% of variance. The MARO version, resulting from this study, opens perspectives for further national researches on this issue, since it shows factorial validity and internal consistency of the items.

Keywords : Attitude measure; Organizational retaliation; Reactions to injustice at work.
