Abstract

BARTHOLOMEU, Daniel; MARIN RUEDA, Fabián Javier  and  SISTO, Fermino Fernandes. Bender test and learning disabillities: what is the Koppitz system valid for?. Aval. psicol. [online]. 2005, vol.4, n.1, pp. 13-21. ISSN 1677-0471.

This study analyzed validity evidence of the Bender Gestalt test relating to children's writing down achievement. 343 students attending at the first to fourth grade of elementary public schools were studied by means of ADAPE and the Bender Gestalt Test in relation to form distortion and integration. Significant differences were evidenced in all measures. Besides, no significant correlations were found concerning with the Bender measures and the total of writing mistakes in any analyzed situation. Excluding the measures with no observed discrimination, the results showed that the general integration measure correlated with the total of writing mistakes on the third grade. These data suggest that the Bender test´s distortion and integration measures do not provide a good prediction of children with writing down learning disabilities.
