This article has the purpose of pointing out the importance of the psychological evaluation in the health context. Psychology in the field of health is becoming one of the forms of understanding how one falls sick and the manners through which man could maintain healthy. Presently, psychology gains space and importance in health in multi and interdisciplinary spheres for understanding the several phenomena related to health and falling sick. Among its objectives, we could highlight health promotion and protection, prevention and treatment of diseases, identification of etiologies and dysfunctions associated to diseases, as well as proposing improvements in the care systems and in the public health policies. The psychological evaluation in the health context is one of the most important resources for systematizing the various aspects of the operation of the health service users and in the preparation of protocols, capable of performing a relevant social role, such as assisting in the documentation of the effectiveness or not of a treatment through which a patient is undergoing, characterizing the assisted population, establishing intervention, prevention and prophylaxis strategies for the health field.
