Abstract

MINERVINO, Carla Alexandra da Silva Moita et al. Validity of study skills checklist. Aval. psicol. [online]. 2005, vol.4, n.2, pp. 115-123. ISSN 1677-0471.

This research investigates the validity of Study Skills Checklist of Smythe (2005). The checklist obtains the university student's study skills. The participants were 1,052 academic students aged 17 to 53 years (M=22,7 years, SD=5 years), and 465 (44,2%) of the students were male and 587 (55,8%) were female. The factorial analysis indicated a scale with six factors, explaining 45,69 percent of total variance. The scale included 22 items with factor loadings larger than 0,328 with a good internal consistency indicated by Cronbach coefficient (=0,79) to evaluate the construct. It was concluded that the structure of the scale revealed pertinent, being its use a possibility to develop the self-evaluation knowledge, assisting the reflection of study skills.
