SIQUEIRA, Luciana Gurgel Guida  and  WECHSLER, Solange M.. Motivation for school learning: measurement possibilites. Aval. psicol. [online]. 2006, vol.5, n.1, pp. 21-31. ISSN 1677-0471.

This study aimed to create and validate a psychological instrument for evaluating learning motivation. The sample was consisted of 655 students (387 females and 268 males), average age of 13,6 years old, from inland towns in Minas Gerais and São Paulo. The instrument used was the "Motivation Scale for School Learning". The Factorial Analysis (Varimax) indicated a five-factor structure, in which 50 items were grouped. The reliability analyse´s (Cronbach´s alpha) indicated that Factor 1 obtained a good rate. The temporal stability of the motivation scale was studied through the test-retest, the correlation obtained was significant for all the scale factors. On the whole, the motivation scale showed good psychometric properties, mainly the Factor 1. Further studies will be necessary for the other ones, with the preparation of new items to improve the internal consistency of the factors.
