The effect of aging population is a phenomenon that concerns public authorities because there are many modifications in health and social public systems to be done in order to accommodate these changes. The main goal of this study was to correlate depressive symptoms and social activities in elderly. There were 150 subjects, divided in two groups (health system and social elderly group) and the data was collect by an identification questionnaire, social activities questionnaire and Geriatric Depression Scale. The results show negative correlation between social activities and depressive symptomatology, as several researches in this area that show the importance of social activities and groups in elderly.
