Abstract

SILVA JUNIOR, Domingos Isidório da  and  FERREIRA, Maria Cristina. A scale for evaluation of environmental stressors in off-shore oil context (EACOS). Aval. psicol. [online]. 2007, vol.6, n.2, pp. 139-146. ISSN 1677-0471.

The study aimed to develop and analyze the psychometric characteristics of a scale to evaluate environmental stressors in Brazilian off-shore oil context. The sample was composed of 355 workers, mainly from male sex, with ages varying from 19 to 68 years old. They answered to a first version of the instrument with 65 items. After the exploratory factor analysis, by principal axis factoring and oblimin rotation, the final version of the questionnaire was with 47 items, distributed in six factors (problems of relationships and performance at work; organizational structure; work-family interface; security; career and supervision; off-shore oil work factors). Its internal consistency indexes ranged between .71 and .84. It was concluded that the psychometric characteristics of the instrument indicate its adoption in Brazilian investigations designed to evaluate the incidence and frequency of environmental stressors in off-shore-oil context.
