Abstract

PEREIRA, Dejenane Aparecida Pascoal  and  AMARAL, Vera Lúcia Adami Raposo do. Validity and precision of the children depression evaluation scale. Aval. psicol. [online]. 2007, vol.6, n.2, pp. 189-204. ISSN 1677-0471.

The survey has verified the validity and precision of the Children Depression Evaluation Scale (Pereira and Amaral, 2004) in a sample of 626 children from 6 to 12 years of age. The scale was submitted to a new study of validity of construct and precision and compared with study of validity previously undertaken by Pereira and Amaral (2004). It has been applied the exploratory factorial analysis by the method of principal components with orthogonal rotation by the Varimax method. The Cronbach's Alfa Coefficient (a) was used for the precision. The scale remained with 24 items in 4 factors, namely: Depressed Mood, Social Relationship, Self-Esteem and Autonomic-Physiologic Response. The Cronbach's Alfa Coefficient (a) has shown good precision (a=0,82). This new study allowed alterations in the grouping of the items in the first two factors, as well as new denominations given to the first three factors.
