The purpose to this research was to identify the characteristics of Brazilian scientific production on the creativity theme the review of theses, dissertations and journal publications between the years 1984 to 2006. The eletronic data bases of CAPES and Index-Psi were utilized. The results indicated 104 theses or dissertations and 95 scientific papers. Teoretical studies were predominant in both bases using qualitative methodologies such as interviews and questionnaires, while quantitative methodologies were more frequent in papers, through the use of tests and scale. Adults and adolescents tended to be more present in creativity studies. In conclusion there is great interest among Brazilian researchers related to creativity, mainly in the educational area, although there a specific need on this area for research on health and the organizational area.
