Abstract

REPPOLD, Caroline Tozzi  and  HUTZ, Claudio Simon. Psychodiagnostic investigation of adolescents: Referrals, symptoms and instruments used in the university psychology clinics. Aval. psicol. [online]. 2008, vol.7, n.1, pp. 85-91. ISSN 1677-0471.

The present research investigated the frequency of the use of psychological tests in assessment of adolescents. It also investigated the symptoms self-report by adolescents, the main sources of referrals, the reasons cited for the external sources about the assessment of the adolescent and frequency of multidisciplinary consults. The data had been collected in 211 protocols of adolescents between 12 and 17 years of age, assessed in University psychology clinics. The main results had indicated that 55.6% of the assessments had used psychological tests, graphical or projectives in general. The prevalence of symptoms reported varied in accordance with the information source. The reasons cited for the referrals had been conflicts of social interaction and the externalizing problems behavior. However, the complaints more frequently self reported by adolescents had been indicatives of internalizing problems behavior, overall in the feminine group. These data indicate the necessity of the planning the health care policy and the academic preparation, coherently with the reality.
