Abstract

This study aimed to investigate parents' perception regarding changes of their children's behaviors after a psycho-diagnosis process. The research was accomplished through a qualitative study, with thirteen semi-structured interviews with children and teenagers' mothers that went through the psycho-diagnosis process hold by the academics of the Psychology Course from Universidade Regional Integrada - Erechim Campus - RS, at the Center of Applied Psychology. After the data collection, they were transcribed and submitted to the analysis of content, the results indicating changes in behavior and symptoms presented initially. The examinees manifested, regarding school performance, a bigger sense of responsibility and organization with their school activities; regarding parenthood affection, there was a better manifestation of affection, also presenting a decreasing of anxiety and aggressiveness. It can be concluded that the psycho-diagnosis process is a stage of evaluation and a diagnosis that can be extended as a period of intervention that generates changes.
