Studies about morbidly obesity, associate variables and co morbidities it has been of great relevance due to the increase of its prevalence between the world-wide population, commonly associated with modification in physical, mental health and quality of life. This research objectified to verifying socio-economics and risk data and the correlation between depression, body mass index - BMI- and quality of life in a Brazilian sample of morbidly obesity of a service of obesity surgery in a countryside São Paulo (43 pré-cirurgical and 39 post-cirurgical). It was utilized to collecting data the Questionnaire of Identification, Beck Depressory Inventory (BDI) and the Questionnaire of Quality of Life (WHOQOL-BREF). The questionnaires were applied individually in the lobby of the ambulatory. The results of 82 participant point that does not exist correlation between depression and quality of life; limitrophe correlation between Body Mass Index (BMI) and depressive sintomatology and negative correlation between BMI and quality of life.
