Abstract

CARVALHO, Lucas de Francisco; BUENO, José Maurício Haas  and  KEBLERIS, Fernanda. Preliminary psychometrics studies of Romantic Jealousy Inventory: RJI. Aval. psicol. [online]. 2008, vol.7, n.3, pp. 335-346. ISSN 1677-0471.

The objective of this study was to investigate the psychometric properties of a Romantic Jealousy Inventory. It was administered to 577 university students of both sexes that also answered a big five personality trait inventory. An exploratory factor analysis, through principal components and varimax rotation, showed a primary structure with six factors related to romantic jealousy, non-jealousy, non-aggression, distrust, investigation, lack of self-confidence, and two second order factors. The scales accuracy varied from 0.62 to 0.89 and almost all of them correlated positively and significantly to the neuroticism trait, as theoretically expected. It was possible to conclude that the scale showed good validity and reliability properties, but it needs to be reviewed due to the fact that some factors presented few numbers of items, what may compromise its representativity.

Keywords : Psychological assessment; Psychopathology; Test validity.
