Abstract

COUTO, Gleiber; MUNIZ, Monalisa; VANDENBERGHE, Luc  and  VAN HATTUM, Antonius Cornelius. Sex differences observed in the Checklist of Interpersonal Relations: revised. Aval. psicol. [online]. 2008, vol.7, n.3, pp. 347-357. ISSN 1677-0471.

The aim of the present study was to verify sex related differences in the dimensions of the CLOIT-R. Participants were 551 students between 13 and 52 of which 66% (n=366) was female. Discriminant analysis was performed, using a stepwise method to obtain the combination of scales that would explain the difference in profiles between both sexes best. For the analysis, sex was chosen as the dependent variable while the scores on the scales were the independent variables. At the end of the analysis, a composed function of six scales was determined, that correctly classified 64,4% of the cases, thus providing a reasonable discrimination for the dependent variable. The variable that contributed most was the Dominance scale and the one that contributed least was the Confidence scale. Function scores also varied with school grade but this relation did not interact with the variable sex.

Keywords : Interpersonal relations; Personality; Gender; Cloit-r.
