The assessment of creativity is essential to its understanding and promotion. Firstly, several creativity assessment proceedings considering a classical taxonomy are presented. Secondly, it is clarified and discussed obstacles and potentials that simultaneously characterize the domain of creativity assessment. Psychometric properties like reliability and validation show relevant fragilities concerning methodologies and instruments; on the other hand, the nature of the creativity construct necessarily offers relativeness to these kinds of criticisms. It is hoped thus, to contribute for a systematic and reflexive approach about the assessment of one of the most complex cognitive dimensions.
