MARTINELLI, Selma de Cássia; SCHIAVONI, Andreza y BARTHOLOMEU, Daniel. Psychometric properties of a students' perception about the teachers' expectations scale. Aval. psicol. [online]. 2009, vol.8, n.1, pp. 119-129. ISSN 1677-0471.
This article describes the analysis of an evaluation measure of students' perceptions about the teachers' expectations toward them, to identify aspects of teacher-student relationship. Participants were 353 students of both genders, 8 to 11 years of age from the interior of Sao Paulo state. Participants' perception was measured through a scale with twenty statements of which eleven were positively and nine negatively stated. Thus, the data had been analyzed through the main components analysis and varimax rotation. Two factors were evidenced, one concerning a negative perception of the teacher expectations and another with positive perception, that explained 38% of variance. The Cronbach´s Alpha coefficients provided rates of 0.77 for both factors. All the item-total correlation coefficients were above 0,30. The scale presented a good precision and validity, revealing adequacy for school research.
