We intend to characterize the value system from a group of college students and analyze the differences between groups considering the variables: field of studies (Humanities vs. Technologies), gender, geographic area (Lisbon vs. Interior), and public vs. private universities. To operationalize the variables we have used Life Values Inventory (LVI) with a sample of 271 college students. Significant differences were founded between groups for all variables except geographic area. Exploratory Factor Analysis of Life Values Inventory, items/Reliability analysis Alpha coefficients were runned. Accepted Alpha coefficients were obtained. The factorial structure, revealed an 11 factor structure responsible for 63% of total variance. The results have relevance for the discussion in this thematic field.
