Abstract

MIGUEL, Fabiano Koich  and  NORONHA, Ana Paula Porto. Study of the relation between emotional intelligence and stress at workplace. Aval. psicol. [online]. 2009, vol.8, n.2, pp. 219-228. ISSN 1677-0471.

The present research aimed to study the relation between emotional intelligence and stress at workplace. The participants were 108 people, 80 female, with ages ranging from 21 to 67 years old, from two distinct workplaces, which were a state public agency and a municipal public hospital. Correlations were different according to the workplace. At the public agency, only one low negative correlation was found between emotional management and stress. At the hospital, positive correlations between emotional understanding and stress were found. The results suggest that other factors may influence the relation between emotional intelligence and stress, depending on the workplace.
