Abstract

GONCALVES, Marina Pereira  and  ALCHIERI, João Carlos. ADAPTATION AND VALIDATION OF THE MOTIVES FOR PHYSICAL ACTIVITY MEASURE (MPAM-R). Aval. psicol. [online]. 2010, vol.9, n.1, pp. 128-138. ISSN 1677-0471.

The present research has the objective to adapt and to validate for the brazilian context the Motives for Physical Activity Measure Revised - MPAM-R. Participated in this study 309 practitioners of physical activities in the city of Natal/RN, with ages between 16 and 74, distributed equally in sex. After the conclusion of translations, semantic analysis and judges analysis the participants answered the portuguese version of the MPAM-R and socio-demographic questions. Exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis were made, and the results demonstrated that the final version of the scale was composed by 26 itens and satisfactory intern consistence for all those factores: Enjoyment (α = 0,88), Health (α = 0,84), Appearance (α = 0,79), Competence (α = 0,85) and Social (α = 0,75), verifying that this scale works best on a multifactor structure. Thus, it is trusted that a psycometrically adequate measure for the use in researches and also for the creation of intervention strategies along the sedentary population is being offered.
