Abstract

This study aimed to conduct a literature review of national literature, to verify the available tests to researchers and clinicians in the country for assessment of personality disorders and discuss the current state of research in the area of personality disorders assessment in Brazil. The relevant databases in the area were consulted, and the search was restricted to 10 years of publication. About the 31 selected works, six were kept. Thus, we selected 3 articles, 1 theory and 2 dissertations. Of the 6 selected works, three were focused on the anti-social personality disorder, and the other three studies addressed the personality disorders of a more extensive and all are of empirical nature. The test absence means many diagnoses made without a more objective benchmark that allows state with a degree of security the existence of these diseases.
