Abstract

NUNES, Maiana Farias Oliveira  and  NORONHA, Ana Paula Porto. Occupational activities self-efficacy scale: internal structure and reliability study. Aval. psicol. [online]. 2011, vol.10, n.1, pp. 25-40. ISSN 1677-0471.

This paper aimed at presenting psychometric analysis of the Occupational Activities Self-efficacy Scale (OASS), specifically concerning its internal structure and reliability. 1020 people took part on the study, mean age 16.3 (SD=2.31), 56.4% women, from public and private schools. Principal Component Analysis was conducted for both sections of OASS, the first one regarding self-efficacy itself and the second, its sources. Six factors explained selfefficacy to occupational activities, that were interpreted according to RIASEC types. Two factors were extracted for the section that assessed self-efficacy sources, named authentic experiences and vicarious learning. Reliability, when considered by Cronbach Alfa, was above .85, which is considered a good coefficient, and factor analysis suggested favorable validity evidences for the scale. The scale showed good conditions for use on Vocational Guidance and for researches conducted in the field.
