Difficulties to adjust to university or work lead to the need for specialized care. This study aimed at investigating the reasons why adults seek career guidance and was done at a vocational guidance service at a state university. Seventeen subjects (11 women and 6 men), who’s age varied from 20 to 48 years, participated in this study. Data were obtained from self-report questionnaires. The analysis of the contents was done focusing the following issues: concerns about their career, expectations about the intervention, and the importance they attributed to the issues approached during intervention. It was seen that the participants were mostly concerned with issues relating to their entrance higher education and career transitions, followed by the needs for more occupational information. The results clarified the demands for career guidance and optimizing the design of intervention strategies to attend adults.
