Abstract

NAKANO, Tatiana de Cássia  and  SIQUEIRA, Luciana Gurgel Guida. Content validity of the Gifted Rating Scale (school version) for the brazilian population. Aval. psicol. [online]. 2012, vol.11, n.1, pp. 123-140. ISSN 1677-0471.

This study investigates the evidence of content validity of the Brazilian version of the Gifted Rating Scales (GRS). After translated and adaptation of items, six post-graduate students acted as judges rating the 72 items that composing the instrument in six sub-factors (intellectual ability, academic ability, creativity, leadership, motivation and artistic talent). The results showed that most items (n=54) were properly classified by the judges, achieving concordance rates above 80%. Five items had more serious problems and should be reworked. The analysis of Kappa’s coefficient showed that seem to be easier for judges to identify the items belonging to the area of motivation, being the area of academic ability more difficult. In general the results confirmed the adequacy of the Brazilian version of the content model that its wants to assess. Futures studies will be conducted in order to examine whether these factors are held in the Brazilian population.
