Abstract

SANTOS, Mariana Teles  and  FLORES-MENDOZA, Carmen Elvira. Adaptation of the eysenck personality questionnaire junior for preschoolers: observer rating version. Aval. psicol. [online]. 2012, vol.11, n.2, pp. 203-212. ISSN 1677-0471.

The aim of the study is the adaptation of the Junior Eysenck Personality Questionnaire (EPQ-J), instrument based on the three big factors personality model of Hans Eysenck for evaluation of pre-school children. The questionnaire was filled up by 192 mothers of children aged 4 - 6 years old, which 108 (56%) were female. The Cronbach’s alpha for Psychoticism (five items), Extraversion (four items) and Neuroticism (ten items), were 0.80, 0.77, and 0.90 respectively. Three components with eigenvalues greater than one were extracted by principal component analysis, which explained 57% of the total variance. The results indicated equivalence between theoretical and observed factorial structure. Positive correlations between the Psychoticism scale and dimensions of the Attention Deficit Disorder and Hyperactivity scale were found. Overall, the results indicated appropriate psychometric properties of the EPQ_J - adapted version for pre-school children assessment.
