Abstract

Safety is one of the key factors in the management of public administration of any city. It is essential a recruitment of new officers trained to the increasingly complexity of such a complex job. The purpose of the referred study is to discuss about the main characteristics of law enforcement selection processes as well as their pre-employment psychological assessments in the context of public safety. To this end, we present the main techniques used for this process and more specific aspects of psychological assessment in public safety. This context becomes essential, since nowadays this kind of assessment, conducted through a public tender, has one of the highest psychological assessment procedures in Brazil set of circumstances and practices that deserve to be discussed.
