Resumen

FONSECA, Patrícia Nunes da et al. Study Habits Scale: evidences of construct validity. Aval. psicol. [online]. 2013, vol.12, n.1, pp. 71-79. ISSN 1677-0471.

This article aimed to gather evidences of construct validity of the Study Habits Scale (SHS). In Study 1 participated 242 students in elementary and secondary education, with a mean age of 14.3 years. They answered the SHS and demographic questions. A onedimensional structure was identified by principal components analysis, with Cronbach's alpha (internal consistency) of 0.65. In Study 2 participants were 249 students in the same educational levels, with mean age of 14.6 (sd = 2.12), who answered the same instruments. The unidimensional structure was tested by confirmatory factorial analysis. The fit indexes of this model were satisfactory, supporting the unidimensionality of this scale. Its internal consistency was assessed by Cronbach's alpha (0.74) and composite reliability (0,70), supporting this parameter of the SHS. In conclusion, this measure shows evidence of construct validity, which suggests its use in future research.

Palabras clave : habits of study; scale; validity; reliability.
